… see the “back of the ship” …

… where everything is stored. This tour is offered once a cruise to the suite occupants, and is always followed by a special Indonesian lunch. Neither the tour nor the luncheon should be missed! First is the ship’s recycling room … and then the cheese storage area.

The amazing laundry operation – including the gigantic Braun ironing machine. When sheets are fed in, the machine also performs several folds! Unfortunately on this day they were only handling napkins.

All food consumed on the ship, except for fresh fish, is purchased in the US. At each of our ports abroad, a container from the US is waiting for the ship. The primary reason for this is food safety. However, the ship does occasionally run out of a particular item, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. However, there’s always a substitute available.

Other functions located below decks include the florist, who creates amazing new arrangements for all the ship’s public areas, as well as for each cabin. Next to the florist is the ship’s morgue …

The tour concluded with an Indonesian lunch in the elaborately decorated dining room. All of the dining room attendants and cabin stewards on the ship are Indonesian, and the dishes served are fabulous! Formerly held on the lower deck, the lunch was moved to the dining room this year in response to new US health regulations.
